THE HUMAN DEVELOPMENT CENTER –HDC–

We have a Human Development Center as part of our integral vision, to provide access and health coverage in the area of influence of our operations; located in the southwestern region of Guatemala.
It was inaugurated in 2014 and is at the service of our workers, their families and the communities surrounding us; in order to contribute to the development of the area, providing access to high quality medical services at affordable prices.

ALLIANCE WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO IN THE UNITED STATES

To make this project possible, we signed an agreement with the University of Colorado in the United States, which provides us with technical assistance and resident doctors for patient care, along with Guatemalan doctors and nurses.

Services

Research and training by the University of Colorado

Health, Nutrition and Development Programs for employees and communities

MEDICAL SERVICES

Clinica Médica:

Equipped with advanced technology to provide medical services to the population at a low cost. It also has a pharmacy, ambulance and dental clinic.

Diagnosis Methods

The HDC has a laboratory which is equipped to perform chemical and biological tests among other laboratory tests.

Gyneco-obstetric area

The Center has all the required facilities for childbirth, as well as equipment to perform ultrasounds and Papanicolaou tests.

Preventive Health Days

Throughout the year, preventive health days are held in order to prevent the population from suffering from illnesses due to lack of adequate treatment and to provide them access to affordable prices.

RESEARCH AND TRAINING
BY THE UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO

Research Center

The University of Colorado has built a research center to measure the incidence of diseases such as Dengue, Zika, Diarrhea, among others; in order to develop action plans to eradicate them.

Participatory research

To carry out the research, an Advisory Committee is organized, comprised of community leaders from the region, who collaborate with the University of Colorado to identify the main health issues affecting the area and to gather information for each investigation.

Training for workers at the Human Development Center

Doctors from the University of Colorado constantly train the Medical Clinic staff in medical and nutritional fields.

Training to local institutions

Doctors from the University of Colorado train staff from private and governmental health institutions in areas of hemorrhage and dengue.

PROGRAMS FOR EMPLOYEES AND COMMUNITIES

Preventive Health Program for our workers

AgroAmérica's Human Development Center personnel work on a daily basis in their workplace to ensure optimal health conditions for our workers and their families.

Comprehensive development program for adolescents

There is a program dedicated to adolescents from 12-18 years old, implemented by workers of the Human Development Center with the assistance of the University of Colorado.

Mother and Child Nutrition Program "Healthy Mothers" and Growing Up Healthy"

The main objective of these programs is to reduce maternal and infant mortality and to contribute to the growth and development of children, during the zero to three year stage in the southwestern area of Guatemala.

STRATEGIC ALLIANCES

The Human Development Center works together with different private institutions, NGOs and government entities which have established Strategic Alliances to have a greater scope and impact.
