AgroAmerica finances smallholders who grow different crops in Ixcán, Quiché, through the Agroforestry projects of the NGO EcoLogic.
Agroforestry is an agricultural production system that intersperse trees with crops. The agroforestry systems introduced by EcoLogic are helping local farmers improve the performance of their crops without harming the environment.

EcoLogic projects, besides protecting the environment encourage community and teamwork. The latter is one of the values promoted by AgroAmerica in the company, with its stakeholders and in the projects it finances.
For example, in the community of La Esperanza, in Ixcán, Quiché, EcoLogic partners work with nurseries each year. To this end they are organized by groups to carry out all the tasks and each member has different functions. Some people who gather earth, others do the sifting, others yet fill bags, some organize the bags and some sow the seeds inside them. Men and women work equally in the activity, regardless of the tasks that need to be carried out.
